DIY: Hand-Painted First Birthday Dress & Smash Cake Party

While the search for the maid is still on, I couldn’t stay away from writing any more. So, here’s what we did on H’s first birthday.

The birthday celebrations took place in Mysore at her grand parents house. While the BIG party was on the 20th, we had a ‘Smash Cake Party’ on 18th April, the day when H was born an year back.

To be honest, I was more excited about this one as it was THE DAY, I had been waiting for all through the year.

So, here’s what I did for my little H’s First Birthday…

The Dress

Once again, inability to go shop-hopping, I went DIY way to make this ‘Hand-Painted First Birthday T-Shirt’ for my birthday girl. It reads: Look Who’s 1 – HIYA!

The skirt was gifted by a dear family member.

Maid-in-India

Maid In India
Maid In India

From H’s first birthday and her mundan ceremony to her ears piercing and a week long trip to Mysore… a lot happened during the last two weeks. Though I have so many important and close-to-my-heart developments to write about, but still I would like to dedicate this post to something or rather someone who walked out of my life when I needed her the most – no prizes for guessing this right. I am talking about my ‘Maid’ who chose to quit when I was in between many things. – work, A-toZ-Blogging-Challenge, preparations for events mentioned earlier… and above all a naughtier than ever H.

Result – I ended up leaving the blogging challenge mid-way and cut-short some plans.

Realization – There’s no bigger challenge than finding a ‘Maid-in-India.’ You can live without your husband but not without a ‘Maid-in-India.’

P.S: I’m still looking out for a maid. If you have any leads, please feel free to forward.

Hair today, gone tomorrow: I love her hair! #AtoZChallenge

H was born with beautiful locks. Dark, soft and curly – exactly the kind of hair I always wanted. South Indian genes, I think. Yes, she’s got them from her dad.

Her hair are beautiful. Touchwood. And you know this when a passer-by in the shopping mall inquire about the hair-care regime I followed with her.

17 Reasons why it is fun to have a baby girl! #AtoZChallenge

Image Can’t believe that I have survived the #AtoZChallenge till Day 7. Day 7 brings us to alphabet G and G is for ‘Girls’. So, here’s a look at some reasons why it’s fun to mother a girl:

1. Mommies, who give birth to girls are less likely to suffer post-natal depression. (Read research)

2. If your first born is a girl, your chances of a miscarriage in future is reduced. (Read study)

3. Buying clothes for girls is any day exciting than shopping for boys. Think about those cutesy dresses, adorable accessories, pretty hair clips and all that!

4. Sky is the limit when it comes to girly hair styles. Isn’t it?

The Mighty Finger #AtoZChallenge

The mighty finger

It’s Day 6 of #AtoZChallenge. Letter of the day is ‘F’ & I dedicate this post to a ‘finger.’

Yes, that tiny-miny little finger of my girl, which has got quite active in past a few months. Earlier it was limited to being a regular feature inside her mouth. But these days it is on a mission – the mission to explore.
