15 Super cool school lunch box recipes

Lunchbox ideas for kidsWith vacations getting over and back-to-school mania already catching up with kids across the nation, one of the most crucial questions for moms to tackle everyday is – what to pack in your child’s school lunch box? So to bail you out of the everyday drill, here are some school lunch box snack ideas that are quick to cook, healthy and yummy to eat!

These are great for toddlers and young school goesr as most of them are finger foods, hence very easy for them to eat without any mess. All the lunch box snacks are paired with a fruit, which can be changed as per your child’s preference.

  1. Rava Idlis + Banana
    Quick Recipe: Mix one cup rava, 1/2 cup curd, 1/2 cup water, salt to taste in a bowl and keep it aside for five minutes.
    Season it with oil, mustard seed and curry leaves seasoning.
    Heat water in Idli steamer.
    When you are ready to cook, add a pinch of soda bicarb in the batter and put in the idli stand.
    Let it cook for 10 minutes and your Rava Idlis are ready!
  2. Mini Cheese & Veggie Rava Utthapas + Oranges
    Make a batter similar to Rava Idlis. Don’t put Soda.
    Take a spoonful of batter and spread it on tawa. Layer with your choice of veggies. Turn it on the other side. Once both sides turn golden, put some grated cheese on the side with vegetables & your mini utthapas are done!
  3. Bread Pakora + Cherries
    Make a batter of besan, salt, ajwain (carom seeds), pinch of turmeric and water. Keep the consistency flow-y. Now, cut bread slices in various shapes. Dip each one in the besan batter and deep fry.
  4. Besan Chilla with Tomato Sauce + Apple slices
    Make a batter of besan and water. Let the consistency be runny. Add chopped onions and coriander. Now, make pan cakes on tawa. Cook from both sides till golden brown.
  5. Carrot-Cucumber Mayo Sandwich + Cheese Slice
    Grate carrot and cucumber for filling. Add some mayonnaise and a pinch of salt. Spread this on bread slices and your sandwiches are ready. You can even grill/ toast the bread.
  6. Mac-n-Cheese + Grapes
    Melt butter in a saucepan; stir in flour, salt, and pepper until smooth, about 5 minutes. Now, add milk into this mixture while continuously stirring until mixture is smooth and bubbling. Add Cheddar cheese to milk mixture and stir until cheese is melted. Now, add boiled macarony and cook for a minute.
  7. Palak Puri + Coconut Chutney + Wafers
    Make a dough using wheat flour, salt to taste, spinach puree, a teaspoon oil, ajwain and water. Make puris in different shapes and deep fry.
  8. Aloo-Paratha + Tomoto Sauce + Watermelon
  9. Paneer Paratha + Green Chutney + Banana 
  10. Tomato Cheese Sandwich + Cherries
  11. Corn & Soya Cutlets+ Tomato Sandwich + Mango Slices
    Take overnight soaked soya granules, one mashed potato and boiled corn. Mix them all. Add dhaniya powder and sal to taste. Make cutlets out of these. Roll in bread crumbs and deep fry.
  12. Mini Dosas + Coconut Chutney + Apple Slices
  13. Paneer Pakoda + Grapes
    Make athick batter of besan, ajwain seeds and salt to taste. Dip cubes of paneer in this batter and deep fry.
  14. French Fries + Apple + Cheese Slice
  15. Paneer Sandwich + Water Melon
    Mash paneer, add chopped onion, chopped coriander and salt to taste. Stuff this filling in sandwich and grill it in a sandwich toaster.
