Kala Ghoda Festival 2016: 10 events just for your kids!

Mumbai’s biggest multi-cultural festival, Kala Ghoda is just around the corner and it promises to be bigger and better in 2016! The 12 days long festival is a vibrant celebration of art, dance, theatre, literature and food. While the festival holds a lot of activities for adults, it is a mecca of fun, entertainment and learning experiences for kids too! From story telling sessions, art and craft workshops to interesting installations, Kala Ghoda Arts Festival has a lot to offer for the young minds. So, this February (Feb 5, 2016) head to the Kala Ghoda area with your kids and gear up for a lot of fun!

Here’s a list of 10 children’s events for kids that you just can’t miss at Kala Ghoda Arts Fest 2016!

  1. Mad Stuff With Rob
    They’ll love to meet and interact with their favourite Rob from Mad! Watch them get mesmerised as Rob shares his creative stories, art and craft tios and a short demonstration absolutely live!

  2. Heritage Bus Tour
    This one is not just for the kids but parents too! Hop on the open bus for a breezy tour of South Mumbai Heritage sights including Gateway of India, Taj Mahal Hotel,
    High Court, Victoria Terminus and Asiatic Society to name a few!
    When: 6th, 7th, 13th and 14th February

    It will be an experience of a lifetime for the kids to learn the art of creating an animation story by none other than Oscar winning Canadian animation artist Torill Kove.

    Listening to stories is a pleasure and when the story teller is one of India’s celebrated authors it turns into an enriching experience.

  5. Talk with Tara
    Tara Sharma, Bollywood actress and host of popular parenting TV show, The Tara Sharma Show, will conduct an interactive session with children and their parents shedding lights on aspects like mompreneurship, technology, kids, health and fitness. She will also do a small yoga session and revive her late father, Partap Sharma’s voice and communication workshop, building confidence with public speaking tips and a sing along from his book, Songs For My Grandchildren. The session promises to be informative and loads of fun.

  6. Stories In The Park – presented by Pratham Books
    The kids are going to have a blast solving this story puzzle where in posters with a jumbled story up will be put up in the park. Children will have to read the story and then answer the quiz based on it at the end.

  7. The ‘Damru’ Music & Rhyme workshop by Isheeta Ganguly
    Kids and music for a great combo! Watch them sing, dance and record music and build up their confidence and social skills.

  8. Hallam Challam – Rhyme & Rhythm with Ritika Sahni
    In this session, the kids will not only have fun singing and dancing to their fav nursery rhymes but will also learn to make meaningful gestures to some original nursery rhymes and songs, including learning a few phrases of sign language.

    Time – 4 to 5 PM

  9. Dum Dum Dho!
    Writer-illustrater Deepa Balsavar will engage kids in a swirly whirl of rhythm and rhymes with her rhyme-gaadi!
    When: 7th February
    Time – 12 to 1 PM
    Location – Museum Gardens
    Age Group – 4+
  10. Learn 3D sculpting
    Kids can learn to experiment with everyday one-time-use objects and create interesting and spontaneous 3D objects with sculpting stalwarts Arzan and Sunil.
    Date – 7th February
    Time – 11 AM
    Location – Museum Gardens
